In The Journal of Vertebral Subluxation Research, there are many studies into the effects of chiropractic care on diabetes. A great study is about a 48 year old man, who was diagnosed with the early onset of diabetes mellitus. He decided to try chiropractic care to see if there was a way that he could manage his diabetes, without drugs or traditional health care.

Not merely did the chiropractor correct the subluxations by adjusting and manipulating the muscles around the spine, he recommended additional nutritional advice, like increasing the intake of protein and the taking of supplements and recommended a new physical exercise system.
Now, can be said that not everyone treated would see the amazing changes that this 48 year old saw. But within about 30 days of starting his chiropractic care, the indicators used to determine the state of his subluxations started to show changes. His blood sugar levels where balanced, and on continuing his chiropractic treatment and monitoring, he would not need to take injections of insulin now, or at any time in the future. That is, for as long as this improvement maintained itself.
This study was only one of many studiesof vertebral subluxations that took place in 2006. What these studies seem to indicate , is the fact that chiropractic care is not just good for people with bad backs or headaches, but that it can also help many people with other ailments.
It does make you wonder… How many people with diabetes are seeking, or know about chiropractic care? After all, world diabetes is on the rise. In 2006 the global number of diagnosed diabetes was 165 million, it’s estimated to be 250 million by 2010 and up to 330 million by 2025.
Chiropractic care is not a cure for diabetes mellitus or any other type of diabetes. But it can be a significant treatment that can positively help diabetes sufferers. No more should we accept that chiropractic care has to do only with bad back and headache issues.
Dr. Blum, the author of the study , published in the Journal of Vertebral Subluxation Research, concluded that: If chiropractic care helped just 5% of people with diabetic conditions, it could mean a lifestyle enhancement that millions would benefit from.
